His visit began with the Harvard African Development Conference, where Musheshe shared his expertise as a panelist on "Educating and Equipping Africa’s Youth for Africa’s Development". The panel discussed the challenges of training the 300 million African youths from ages 10-24 struggling to achieve literacy and basic job skills. Musheshe made a very effective and well received presentation, showcasing ARU and URDT as models for success in solving many of the problems currently facing African development. He also delivered a lecture at Suffolk University emphasizing the role of early vocational training at all education levels, for both males and females. He toured the Google offices, and left impressed and inspired by the variety of flexible workspaces made available to employees to engender and maximize creativity. He even hopes to work some of Google’s ideas into the campus plan in Uganda.

 

Musheshe was also able to visit with one of his daughters and her family (based here in Massachusetts) while on his trip. He met with many of AFPF’s long-time supporters and thought partners. AFPF and the Dolben Family hosted an Open House during the last week of his visit where the AFPF community was able to come together and enjoy Musheshe’s company and look forward to a bright future where AFPF and URDT / ARU continue to partner for years to come
