African Food
and
Peace Foundation
The African Food and Peace Foundation (AFPF) is driven by a world vision where individuals in rural communities can lead a life of freedom, health, wealth, happiness, and dignity. To realize this vision, AFPF provides financial and strategic resources to support sustainable development and education in rural Uganda.
Our History
In 1987, Silvana Franco Veltkamp partnered with Mwalimu Musheshe and Ephrem Rutaboba to found the Uganda Rural Development and Training programme. Silvana connected Ephrem and Mwalimu with Robert Fritz, who contributed the Visionary Approach that is still being taught and widely used in now over 22 Districts and 2 Refugee Settlements in western Uganda.

Our Development Partners
Over five million rural families have benefited and continue to benefit the education and training programs offered at Uganda Rural Development & Training Programme (URDT). We founded URDT in 1987 to address the missing link in development programmes, the merger of: truly functional education; consciousness and conscience raising; skills training; rural development interventions with the intent of empowering marginalized people living in rural communities in Uganda. URDT’s work exemplifies the power of pairing two fundamentals to transformation: 1) clear, structural thinking about the creative process, and 2) collaborative local action to fulfill the aspirations of individuals and their communities. Empower Our Vision
Through fundraising with our community of friends in North America, we have supported development innovations by empowering rural communities in Uganda to create peace, health, prosperity, freedom, and happiness for themselves. The two organizations have had an excellent working partnership for over forty years.
Our Mission
To provide financial and strategic resources to support sustainable development and education in rural Uganda. For over 40 years, we have partnered with URDT, a secular organization run by local Ugandans who are true innovators.

Our Vision
A world where every individual in rural communities can lead a life of freedom, health, wealth, happiness, and dignity.
